“People are not really afraid of dying; they are afraid of never having lived, nor even having deeply considered their life’s higher purpose, and not ever having stepped into that purpose and at least tried to make a difference in the world.”
— Joseph Jaworski
On the webpage of the Service Driven Institute, my new book Extraordinary Living is referred to as “presenting the power of service using values based spirituality.” Just what is values based spirituality, you may well ask. Here’s how I see it: Values based spirituality is a universal human search and experience. It crosses all lines and boundaries of faith, religion, and lack of faith and religion. Values based spirituality is a sense that our lives have meaning and fulfill some higher purpose, some purpose bigger than ourselves. Notice that I didn’t say higher power; I said higher purpose. Part of a higher purpose could include finding a Higher Power, or having Him find you. But it doesn’t have to include that.
Values based spirituality is, quite simply, the lining up of what is important to you in the way you live your life with a higher purpose, something bigger than yourself. And thereby discovering deep meaning and great joy. It is that very meaning and purpose and joy — fulfillment and worthiness — that the book Extraordinary Living is about. It is about the key to extraordinary living; and the journey that takes all of us there.
